Gustatus in Orbetello is a food and wine festival held every year in the Tuscan town of Orbetello. The event, usually held at the end of October, is dedicated to promoting the typical products of the Maremma.
Organised by the Municipality of Orbetello together with the tourism operators’ consortium Welcome Maremma, in collaboration with I Love Italian Food (a non-profit network and cultural association that promotes and protects authentic Italian food and wine culture around the world), Gustatus is celebrating its 18th anniversary this year and is preparing to take over the streets and squares with street food, show cooking, tastings, as well as concerts, theatre performances and activities for children.
There is also a strong line-up of some of the best chefs, bartenders and figures from Italian television.
The festival takes place in Piazza Duomo, in the historic centre of Orbetello. Here, visitors can enjoy specialities of Maremman cuisine prepared by chefs from across the region. Dishes not to be missed include:
- Cacciucco: a fish soup made with cuttlefish, squid, prawns, scorpionfish and other reef fish
- Trippa alla maremmana: a dish made with veal tripe cooked with tomato, onion, carrots and celery
.
- Fried muccoli: small fried crustaceans that are a true delicacy.

In addition to food, Gustatus in Orbetello also offers a rich programme of events, including:
- Show cooking: cooking demonstrations by professional chefs.
- Workshops: cooking classes for adults and children.
- Competitions: culinary contests for emerging chefs.
The event is an unmissable opportunity to discover the flavours of the Maremma and spend a day filled with good food and entertainment.
Admission is free.
