Discover the experience

The excursion

Depart from Piombino aboard the Aquavision Nettuno motorboat to spend a day on Pianosa, one of the most unique islands of the Tuscan Archipelago. The navigation includes a short stop at Marina di Campo on Elba Island before continuing towards Pianosa. Departure from Piombino is at 08:30. After the stop at Marina di Campo scheduled around 10:00, the navigation continues towards Pianosa, arriving at 10:50. Once disembarked, you will have about 6 hours on the island to organize according to your preferences. There is no guide on board. You can therefore spend your time independently in the areas open to free access or separately book one of the excursions organized with authorized guides of the Tuscan Archipelago National Park, which allow you to also visit areas of the island normally not accessible independently. Departure from Pianosa is scheduled at 17:00. During the return trip, the motorboat makes another short stop at Marina di Campo around 17:45, then continues towards Piombino, with an expected arrival at 19:30.

Pianosa: a protected island to discover with its rules

Pianosa is very different from traditional seaside destinations. The island's history is deeply linked to the penal colony, and much of the territory is now included in the Tuscan Archipelago National Park and subject to specific protection and access rules. During free time, you can move independently in the village area and reach Cala Giovanna, the only area on the island where swimming is allowed. It is not possible to freely explore all of Pianosa: several naturalistic, historical, and archaeological areas can only be reached according to the Park's rules and accompanied by authorized guides.

Cala Giovanna and free time

Cala Giovanna is located a short distance from the landing area and is the simplest choice for those who wish to dedicate part of their stay to the sea. You can alternate swimming with exploring the village area and the testimonies that tell the unique history of Pianosa. The island offers much more than the sea. The territory preserves buildings and structures linked to the prison history, archaeological evidence, and protected natural environments. To learn about the areas not freely accessible, it is possible to participate in the accompanied activities organized on the island.

Park excursions

If you want to deepen your visit, you can separately book excursions and activities organized by the Tuscan Archipelago National Park. Depending on the available schedule, cultural and archaeological visits, nature trails, and different ways to discover the island may be offered. These activities are not included in the mini-cruise and must be booked separately.

Important information

Outside the areas open to free access, it is not allowed to move independently without respecting the access methods provided by the Park. It is also forbidden to collect sand, fossils, artifacts, plants, or animals. If you travel with a dog, you can bring it to the village area keeping it on a leash and under control. Dogs are not allowed at Cala Giovanna nor in the areas beyond the Dalla Chiesa wall.
