Capraia from San Vincenzo

A day discovering the wildest island of the Tuscan Archipelago

Discover the experience

The excursion

The day starts from the port of San Vincenzo with a direct navigation towards Capraia lasting about 2 hours. As you approach the island, the landscape changes: Capraia is the only volcanic island of the Tuscan Archipelago, characterized by a rocky and jagged coast, Mediterranean scrub, and clear waters. Once landed, you will have about 7 hours of free time on the island, to be organized according to your interests. There is no guide on board: you can choose to dedicate yourself to the village, take walks, reach the sea, or participate in one of the activities available on the island. At the end of the stay, meet again at the port for boarding and direct navigation back to San Vincenzo.

Learn more about the experience

The port and the village

The port represents the first contact with Capraia. From here it is possible to reach the village, located higher up, stroll through its streets, and discover an island that still retains a reserved and authentic character. Among the testimonies of the past, you will find the church of San Nicola, the Genoese-era fortifications, and places linked to the history of the former agricultural penal colony.

Sea and coves

The coast of Capraia alternates cliffs, caves, and small inlets shaped by its volcanic origin. One of the most characteristic places is Cala Rossa, in the southern part of the island, recognizable by the contrast between the reddish volcanic rocks and the sea. Other coastal areas include Cala della Mortola, Cala dello Zurletto, and Cala del Ceppo. The seven hours of stay allow you to choose how to live the day without necessarily trying to see everything: sea, village, walks, and nature can become very different experiences of the same island.

Walks and nature

Those who prefer to explore Capraia on foot can choose among paths in the Mediterranean scrub, panoramic points, and itineraries that allow approaching the historical testimonies of the island. The choice of the route must be evaluated based on the available time, personal abilities, and current conditions.

Guided tours on the island

Those who wish to deepen their knowledge of Capraia can check the visits and activities organized by the Tuscan Archipelago National Park. Guided tours are not included in the mini-cruise ticket and must be booked separately.
